Dallas Shopping District Restaurants

Everyone who’s ever braved a mall around the holidays knows that shopping can be an exhausting event. So much to see, so many things to choose from! It’s always hard to convince yourself not to buy everything you come across. One of the best ways to avoid buyer’s remorse is to take a break from the spree and head into a charming café or bistro for a delicious meal. In all of Dallas’ most popular shopping districts, there are more than enough options for anyone who needs to take a break in their day and get off their feet. From upscale Mediterranean restaurants to award-winning steakhouses, there seems to be a restaurant between every store. After mulling over potential purposes while indulging in an incredible entrée and a glass of wine, anyone can come to a logical argument for why they need that specific 400-dollar pair of sunglasses; or, they can simply blame the purchase on too much wine.

Mi Piaci

14854 Montfort, Dallas TX 75240
Roughly translated, the name of this Far North Dallas spot means "my pleasure." And they mean it, offering pleasing service, fine Italian wines and the freshest ingredients (including some herbs grown right on their rooftop) for the rich risottos and eggless pastas. It may not be the best place for a quiet, romantic dinner--the cavernous ceiling, skylights and bare floors make noises bounce up, down and back again--but Mi Piaci features several dishes worth enduring the decibels. Among the appetizers, the fried calamari are fresh and sweet, set off by fiery pepper flakes and a tangy ragu on the side. Blanched white and green asparagus with lemon thyme and Parmesan vinaigrette is crisp and classy finger food. The entrée list is seafood-heavy, with several Italian-style mistos of clams, rock lobster, shrimp and mussels. Four kinds of risotto are made to order (meaning give Õem time) and come in portions fit for two. Fusilli with porcini mushrooms arrives butter-laden but also deliciously dark with huge bites of woodsy mushrooms. Gnocchi (Italian potato dumplings that are surprisingly hard to come by in restaurants these days) are prepared with wild boar ragu and cremini mushrooms. Dover sole is cooked tableside. For dessert, do the usual we'll-share-the-tiramisu if you must, but roasted pineapple spears with a scoop of rum gelato will send you home humming "That's Amore."
