About JT Habersaat & Mishka Shubaly
ALTERCATION PUNK COMEDY'S JT Habersaat is a stand up comic based out of Austin, Texas who headlines and curates the Altercation Punk Comedy Tour. Grammy-winning label Stand Up! Records released his album Hostile Corporate Takeover in 2013 on boner-popping tricolor vinyl with cover art by the legend himself Raymond Pettibon (Black Flag / Sonic Youth, etc).
Some festivals JT has performed at include: Fun Fun Fun Fest Texas, Akumal Comedy Festival Mexico, Punk Rock Bowling Festival Las Vegas, The Fest Gainesville, Hell Yes Fest New Orleans and the traveling circus known as the Vans Warped Tour. His memory on a lot of these is a bit hazy.
Some people JT has shared the stage with include: Henry Rollins, Brian Posehn, Andy Dick, Jeanine Garofalo, Joe Sib, Kyle Kinane, Rob Riggle, Henry Phillips, Kristine Levine, Andy Andrist, Junior Stopka and his personal fave Doug Stanhope. That guy is aces.
JT has also performed comedy alongside bands like: Riverboat Gamblers, Off With Their Heads, Dead To Me, Lower Class Brats, MOD with Billy Milano, The Adolescents, Scream, Youth Brigade, Sloppy Seconds, The Revival Tour with Chuck Ragan and many more. No one threw anything at him.
He was also in some stuff on Comedy Central like 'Upright Citizen's Brigade' and acted in Troma's 'Citizen Toxie', although most of his scenes opposite Ron Jeremy can be found in the trailer so save yourself two hours. He's filming a new horror-comedy movie this fall in which he plays a serial killer. Go figure. He tours constantly and loves bourbon.
After receiving an expensive MFA in Fiction from Columbia University, Mishka Shubaly promptly realized he was more interested in playing music in dive bars than writing. He lived out of a Toyota minivan for a year, touring nonstop, and has shared the stage with artists like The Strokes, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Decemberists among others. "Bad Dreams," a narrative published in NYPress about his romance with an opiate marked his return to writing.
His Kindle Singles for Amazon have all been bestsellers. He writes true stories about drink, drugs, disasters, desire, deception and their aftermath. His work has been praised for its grit, humor, fearlessness and heart. 'The Long Run,' his mini-memoir detailing his transformation from alcoholic drug abuser to sober ultrarunner is one of the best-selling Kindle Singles to date.
Mishka Shubaly lives in Brooklyn where he writes music and plays bass for Freshkills. He is at work on a new solo record of his original songs and a full-length memoir. He does not own a dog but he thinks about them often.
