About The Colourist
This past year, the Colourist went from spending all their time ghost-hunting in their eerie studio building between practices to yelping "haunted makeout spots" between national tour dates. When their first single, “Little Games” reached #1 on Alt Nation, The Colourist followed up a coveted Coachella appearance with nonstop touring alongside The Naked and Famous, Metric, Panic! At the Disco, and Fitz and the Tantrums, finding themselves in venues that, not long before, they'd enjoyed packed Marilyn Manson shows as the sole math pop artists in the audience.
As the year came to a close, the band returned to their Southern California roots: holing themselves up in a small studio with virgin mango coladas while writing and recording songs for their next album. While elusive when fielding questions about when we might get to hear some new tracks, they claim to have embedded secret information about the future releases in a morse code of lottery scratcher patterns.
The Colourist -- Adam Castilla (vocals, guitar), Maya Tuttle (drums, vocals), Kollin Johannsen (guitar, bass), and Justin Wagner (bass, keys) -- are finishing up new tracks before hitting the road this winter with a fellow LA group, Echosmith: “We’re thrilled to be a part of this tour. We're fans of Echosmith and it’ll be great to have a break from our haunted studio for a few weeks."
